Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is a well-known Indian actor, known for her roles in the films Beta Saajan and Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! Her career began as a performer in the late 1980s. Her fame was boosted by the movie Tezaab with the veteran actor Anil Kooor. In the following film, she was a part of Aamir on Dil. Born into a middle-class family in Mumbai she was able to learn dance at an early age. While still a teenager she tried her hand at acting, however most of those early films failed. She eventually found success and became one of the top actors on the Indian film business. Following her marriage the actress took time away from performing until she returned. In recent years, Dixit was a key player as a character in Gulaab Gang a movie about the struggles of women in India. Dixit received 8 Filmfare Awards out of the fifteen she was nominated for. Dixit was also awarded her Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian honour in India. Her work in the field of social service is well-known.
